Tobacco Fragrance In Perfume
When some people think of tobacco, they think of dirty cigarettes or a cigar, but our tobacco fragrance is more reminiscent of a pipe tobacco. It’s a mellow, woodsy scent like fine pipe tobacco or just cut tobacco leaves, with just a whiff of cherry wood and a tinge of sweetness. Like what you would find a gentleman smoking in his library.
Myself, who doesn’t smoke, is a big fan of tobacco in fragrances. I can’t stop smelling myself when I wear one of my custom fragrances with tobacco in it. It just has such an alluring aroma to it that really adds to the complexity and depth of a custom perfume. There are some great combinations that you can combine to create some great masculine and even feminine custom fragrances. I love tobacco in our custom soy candles as well, even just 2 note combinations such as teak wood and tobacco….or bergamot and tobacco.
For colognes, I love to combine tobacco with birch tar to give it a bit more smokiness, 5% birch tar is plenty. You can then balance that out with some citrus or soft florals. For a more feminine scent you can consider tobacco with rose, vanilla and bergamot, probably just 5% tobacco would do it, but I hear from many women how much they have come to love a little tobacco in their custom perfume recipes.
Below is a list of other fragrances that tend to blend well with tobacco fragrance. Feel free to experiment a little.
Leather, Cinnamon, Bergamot, Oakmoss, Vanilla, Lemon, Tonka Bean, Jasmine, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Coriander, Nag Champa, Lavender, Juniper Berry, Oakwood, Green Cognac
So for those of you who haven’t considered using tobacco fragrance in your custom perfume recipes, please don’t be afraid to add a little to give it a different feel. Feel free to post your custom fragrance recipes with tobacco fragrance, I love to hear unique recipes that I may try myself.
